Wedding FAQ

Q: I would like you to shoot my wedding, how do I get start?

A: Contact me through my contact form or by phone at (559) 567-8944.  I’ll schedule an appointment you to meet you to discuss what you would like from your wedding photographer.  Once you’ve decided to choose me as your photographer, sign the contract and put down the deposit.  Yay!  You booked your photographer.


Q: What does a wedding session cost?

A: It depends upon the package.  Call me to schedule a consultation (559) 567-8944.  I can also create custom packages to fit your wedding day needs.


Q: How much do I need to deposit?

A: I require a 50% initial deposit and the rest of the fee to be paid 10 days prior to the wedding day.


Q: How far should we book in advance?

A: Check with me for availability.  I recommend booking at least 6 months in advance to secure your wedding date.


Q: Will you be shooting the wedding?

A: Yes. You are hiring me to shoot the wedding.


Q: Do you shoot with an assistant?

A: I always shoot with an assistant/2nd photographer with rare exceptions. This frees me up to focus on shooting and looking for special moments while ensuring that between the two of us, we don’t miss the important ones. The 2nd shooter offers a different but complementary perspective and allows us to work efficiently throughout the entire day.


Q: Where are you based?

A: I am based in 456 Clovis Ave., Suite 12 – Clovis, CA 93612, but I am willing to travel 🙂


Q: Do you travel?

A: Absolutely!  Let me know if you are having a destination wedding.


Q: When should we do the wedding portraits?

A: It depends upon the wedding.  Every wedding day is different.  I typically spend 1/2 an hour to an hour shooting the bridal party with bride and groom.  I prefer having 1 hour to shoot the Bride and Groom alone.  If you don’t mind seeing each other before the wedding it is great to get these out of the way before the ceremony.


Q: Do you take getting-ready shots?

A: These are wonderful candid moments.  With a full day wedding package, I document your special day from beginning to end.


Q: Do you take party / dance shots?

A: Absolutely, it’s fun to take photos of people making complete fools of themselves!


Q: Do you shoot in RAW?

A: Yes, I do.  This is the best image setting for post processing.


Q: Do you shoot in B&W?

A:  I shoot in color and decide if it would make a good black and white image in post processing.


Q: What about the the vintage look?

A: I love the vintage look.  If you prefer vintage images, I will accommodate.


Q: What kind of equipment do you use?

A: I shoot with a Canon 5D MKII and use various video lights, reflectors and strobe flashes.


Q: When will I get to see my wedding photos?

A: I carefully pick through your images leaving you with the best images possible.  Post processing and re-touching is a time consuming process.  I work as efficiently and carefully as possible.  Your images will be ready in 2-4 weeks.


Q: Do you shoot video?

A: I’m sorry, I do not offer video at this time.  I focus solely on photography.


Q: Do you offer albums?

A: Absolutely!  I love wedding albums and I design them myself.  My albums are created and shipped from Italy.


Q: Who chooses the photographs in the album?

A: I pick the images that are most relevant to your day to design the album.  I then give you the option to replace and add photos if you’d like to.  This is the most efficient way to design your album.  After your wedding you aren’t likely to have the time to comb through several hundred images to pick for an album.


Q: Will you post the photographs online?

A: Always!  I post some on Facebook and on my blog at julieweissblog.com.
